Challengers Boys and Girls Club

ICT Gives Back with Computer Donation

by Eric Soto

I had the pleasure this year of visiting the Challengers Boys and Girls Club in Los Angeles. I didn’t know what to expect since I hadn’t been to a Boys & Girls Club in 30 years. I was really surprised to see the facility was mainly run by volunteers and sustained by contributions. I was truly impressed by the impact it was making on people’s lives.

Dr. Elizabeth Alcaraz-Alikpala walked me through the facility and showed me all the wonderful things they were doing. Next I met the man who makes it all possible: Corey Dantzler. Corey explained to me he spends a good portion of his time fundraising. At that point I realized I was being given an opportunity to give back to people who truly helped their community and making a positive difference.

ICT donated all the computer equipment and one year of unlimited maintenance support. It truly felt good to be able to help even if it was just a little bit. I thought our project was over. Corey surprised me with a surprise visit to my office. He gave me a very large card that the children created to say thank you. As I looked through it, I had to hold back a tear. I pondered who helped whom.

If there is anything you can do to help the Challengers Boys and Girls Club contact Corey at (323) 971-6161 or via e-mail at [email protected]. You might be surprised at what you get out of it too.
